Background

The Corinthians Futbol Club was organized in 1982 and was named after an Irish national championship team.

In the twenty five years since it was founded, the Corinthians have produced over 40 players that have gone on to compete in Division I and Division II collegiate soccer programs.  The most successful of Corinthian players is Randi Martinez who played on the Under 16 National Team of the United States.  In recent years, Randi has been a Corinthians coach.

Headquartered in San Bernardino, the club draws players from throughout the Inland Empire and surrounding areas to field its existing 11 teams.  During the 2002-03 season, the club had 16 teams from a large geographical area unmatched by any other club in Southern California: Highland, Lake Arrowhead, Colton, Rialto, Grand Terrace, Riverside, Jurupa, Redlands, Fontana and Palm Springs. These teams were motivated to join the Corinthians because of the club’s excellent reputation, along with its commitment to promote good character and player development.

Corinthian teams play their fall season in the Coast Soccer League (www.coastsoccer.com).  During the other seasons, they also participate in various tournaments throughout Southern California and Nevada.  Teams range in age from Under 10 through Under 19, girls and boys.  Corinthians originated with non-parent, professional coaches.  At this time, qualified parent coaches are welcome to coach Corinthian teams.  All coaches must meet formal and informal criteria set forth by the club and verified by the Club President.

From 1998 to 2001 the Corinthians also administrated a recreational league.  This was unusual in that usually a recreational league will have club teams.  Instead, the Corinthians hosted a recreational league.  This effort put into action the player development philosophies of the United States Soccer Federation.

The Corinthians is a non-profit organization recognized by the State of California and the Internal Revenue Service.
