Oceanside - Beach Soccer

Two of our teams (Crew & Red Bulls) choose to participate in the Southern California Beach Soccer Championships in Oceanside this past weekend, with great results.  With 274 teams participating and thousands of fans in attendance, this was a great experience for our young boys.

B8 Crew results - First game was against a team called the Breakers with the Crew thoroughly beating them 7-1.  Up next was against the Surf, and this was no contest either, with the Crew winning 6-1.   Then all of a sudden the competition got stiffer and the Crew could only manage to tie another Breakers team 1-1.  So the Crew finished first in their bracket only to loose in the championship.  Even so, the Crew appear to be ready for the Fall season.

The Red Bulls divided up into two teams so all the boys could get a lot of playing time.

B11 Red Bulls results - Their first game was against a team called the Hurricanes and the Red Bulls dominated them 10-4.  Next up was another team called the Hurricanes, but the results were similar with the Red Bulls prevailing 9-5.  Then came the Red Bulls' closest competition - a team called Lightning - but the results were the same, a 5-4 Red Bulls win.  That put the Red Bulls in the Semi's against this same Lightning team, but it was no contest the second time around with the Red Bulls winning 10-5.  Even though the Red Bulls lost in the Championship, the boys grew up a little bit in this tournament.

B10 Red Bulls results - Their first game was a very evenly matched game against a team called the Lightning in which the Red Bulls won 6-4.  And even though this younger version of the Red Bulls lost both of their next games, it was very understandable since they only had 2 subs the entire weekend, never gave up, and showed tremendous heart.

So the Corinthians were well represented and showed a lot of class and the Tournament Director echoed that sentiment at the award ceremonies by letting us know personally.

Go Crew and Red Bulls!  Cal State SB is going to have some mighty fine recruits in 7 to 10 years.
